Yiassas! And welcome to the new look Vasili’s Garden to Kitchen Magazine! That’s right folks, your favourite gardening magazine has had a makeover. We’ve pruned some of the wording back so that it’s not a dense jungle you need to push your way through. We’ve weeded and dug a bit to include some ornamentals – photos, that is. We’ve still overplanted the magazine with tips for you, though!

It might be a new look magazine but all your favourite hosts are here, just as handsome and as gorgeous as ever before. I’ve got tips to get you through this autumn in the garden as well as the answers to the garden problems that have been bugging you. Jason has some bright colours for your garden, Gus is helping you to get the soil right for a wall garden, Eleni brings you more delicious smoothies, and Sandi has created a huge shopping list of cancer-fighting foods.

And because you want to see it in print instead of just on TV, Craig’s teaching you how to bud graft stone fruit trees with his step-by-step tips. Paul McFadden’s gone a bit troppo on with a selection of tropical fruit trees that you can grow in your own backyard, and Nicki Noakes is covering some tropical favourites in Backyard Pharmacy as well with lemongrass and turmeric.

We’re busy creating and building in this issue as well, with instructions on making earwig traps, building an insect hotel and a wall garden. With colder weather coming on, you’ll be able to plant cauliflower and broad beans with more great advice from Sandra Pullman. If these veggies aren’t your cup of tea, flick to the Home Brews section to see which weeds from the garden Anne Richardson says to put into the pot instead of the compost. If you’d prefer to make a pizza instead, Mamma’s sharing her recipe for a gluten-free base, plus plenty of other delectable delights.

But most important of all, we’ve interviewed Australia’s number one celebrity gardener for this issue! Well, maybe the number one amongst the Greek community of Australia. Well, Mamma’s number one son, anyway… That’s right, it’s me, Vasili! it’s about time you get to hear my story, and I’m more than happy to share it with you.

So at this first sign of rain this autumn, down tools, grab a glass of grappa and relax with your favourite gardening magazine. This magazine, I mean! Put that other one down!
