WHAT IS BLACK GRIT?
Black Grit is a natural fused mineral blend rich in calcium, magnesium, silicon and phosphorus.
It works with your soil, not against it, breaking down slowly through microbial activity to improve soil structure, support long-term fertility and help move nutrients where plants need them most.
Unlike soluble fertilisers, Black Grit does not leach or wash away. It stays in the soil, building strength over time.

HOW TO USE BLACK GRIT
Black Grit is easy to apply and fits into any garden routine.
Seedlings
Mix a small amount into the soil before planting. Water in well.
Established gardens
Move mulch aside, sprinkle around plants, lightly scratch into the soil, then water deeply.
Trees & shrubs
Apply in a wide ring under the drip line. Rake in lightly and water well.
Works best when used alongside organic matter and a living soil system.
APPLICATION RATES
(1 handful ≈ 50g)
Garden beds
Apply 1–2 handfuls per m² and mix into topsoil
Pots & planters
Use a small pinch up to ½ handful depending on pot size
Top dress
Reapply every 3–6 months as needed

Since we have been using Black Grit for the last few years we have had an increase in the volume and quality of our lemon and orange trees. Initially the navel oranges were were small and thick skinned, now the skin of the navel oranges has reduced by at least 50 percent and their size has increased and the sweetness is fantastic, the eureka lemons also now have much thinner skins and very juicy. Our bedding plants - dahlias and daffodils blooms and flowers are the best we have ever had. Cheers David

Hi, I have used the black grit before about 3 years ago and I have had quite a lot of fruit by composting and fertilising. I ran out of three grit last year and the fruit trees weren't as good. Unfortunately I haven't had much time to look after them since my husband died. Just so much to do and at the moment I'm not living at my house due to a fire in my kitchen. Nevertheless, I just like to point out that my trees were poorly because of neglect. Trying to get on top of it now. We shall see how they produce this spring and summer. At the moment I have just finished weeding and composting. I'm due to feed the grit this coming weekend as I have to go away for two weeks. A bit late, but I'll give it a go. Hopefully, as the old saying goes, better late then never???

I've just started adding my black grit and superfood to the garden and am looking forward to seeing the results now that spring has arrived.
A suggestion on packaging however - the resealing strips on both bags are not fixed on correctly. one side is not glued to the bag so it can't be resealed.
My lemon tree was really sad a few months ago and after applying the recommended amount of Black Grit it is now looking a lot healthier with lots of flowers. I did a hard prune on a damaged fig tree and it is showing signs of life after I applied Black Grit to the soil.

Black grit is an amazing product. I have previously bought 2 of the 18kg tubs and now the 10kg. Our box hedge is lush and green due to the black grit and everyone else in our neighbourhood has very rusty looking hedges. I use it on everything else as well
