Citrus Guard White Spray (CGWS)
CGWS, a premium-quality, refined kaolin mineral, offers an innovative and natural approach to citrus and general garden care. Specifically formulated for use on citrus trees, but equally beneficial on apples, pears, stone fruit, passionfruit, vegetables and ornamentals, CGWS creates a protective barrier film on the plant surface, promoting a healthier environment for growth and fruit production.
Key Benefits of CGWS:
Creates a physical barrier film that supports the plant’s natural ability to deter a wide range of common pests including pear and cherry slug, fruit fly, codling moth, gall wasp and leaf miner.
(This barrier prevents direct contact and makes it harder for pests to land, sting, feed or lay eggs.)
- Enhances the natural defence of citrus trees, particularly against gall wasp and leaf miner activity.
- Reduces heat stress by reflecting excess sunlight, helping maintain a cooler canopy.
- Supports improved fruit set, quality and overall tree vitality.
- Improves plant resilience by reducing environmental stressors.
How CGWS Works:
Once mixed with water and applied, CGWS forms a fine white protective coating over leaves, stems and fruit.
This coating acts as:
- a reflective film that cools the canopy,
- a surface barrier that disrupts pest behaviour,
- and a supportive layer that helps the plant maintain strong natural defences.
While not an insecticide, the protective film can make treated surfaces less attractive for landing, feeding or stinging, helping safeguard fruit and foliage during vulnerable periods.
Heat Stress Management:
CGWS has demonstrated the ability to reduce canopy temperatures by up to 8°C, especially valuable during intense summer heat.
This cooling effect helps maintain healthy photosynthesis, prevents fruit sunburn, and encourages stronger growth and earlier fruit development, especially in young or newly established trees.
Application Guidelines:
Frequency: Apply every 6–8 weeks from late winter to early autumn, or more often during periods consistently above 20°C.
Mixing:
First application: 50g (3 tbsp) per 1 litre of water
Follow-up applications: 25g (1½ tbsp) per litre
Mix thoroughly to ensure a smooth consistency.
Application Method: Spray to the point of runoff, covering all plant surfaces. Flush your sprayer with clean water afterwards.
Precautionary Measures:
CGWS may cause mild eye or respiratory irritation during mixing. Wearing protective eyewear and a dust mask is recommended.
By incorporating CGWS into your seasonal spray program, you are choosing a natural, non-toxic, environmentally aligned method to help protect and strengthen your fruit trees and garden plants, while supporting healthier growth and more productive harvests.
