Some tomato varieties come and go. Others stay in the family for years because they're simply too good to lose.

Introducing Italian Malaka — a traditional Italian-style sauce tomato that we've grown, saved and enjoyed for many years, but until now has never been made available for sale.

Producing large, meaty fruit with plenty of juice and rich tomato flavour, Italian Malaka was made for the kitchen. Whether you're bottling passata, making pasta sauces, soups, chutneys or preserving the summer harvest, this variety delivers the flavour and flesh content that serious sauce makers look for.

The fruit are a generous size, often weighing several hundred grams each, with a smooth, slightly elongated shape and beautiful deep red colour when fully ripe. Cut one open and you'll quickly see why it has remained a favourite for so long.

Unlike many modern tomatoes bred for transport and shelf life, Italian Malaka was selected for one thing above all else... flavour.

If you're passionate about growing your own food and preserving the harvest the old-fashioned way, this is a tomato that deserves a place in your garden.

And yes... before anyone asks, the name is very Greek, but the tomato is all Italian!
